《马丁·伊登》是杰克·伦敦最有影响的作品,一则因为它具有明显的自传色彩,为我们认识,研究伦敦提供了宝贵材料,二则由于它具有很高的思想和艺术价值,标志着美国现实主义文学在本世纪初的重要发展.

本文着重分析主人公马丁·伊登死亡的原因,说明社会因素在其中所起的重要作用.第一章讲述马丁如何通过长期努力获得成功.第二章从四个方面论述马丁选择死亡的必然性:由于他在爱情和创作上的困惑,周围市侩小人态度的转变,以及他本人试图回到原属于自己的那个阶级但却最终失败,他只有选择死亡向社会抗争.第三章阐述马丁梦想破灭所谓的美国梦想以信仰为基础,而非基于理性以理想为基石,而非基于现实资产阶级个人主义思想认为个人能改变整个社会的,这种个人主义思想的盲目性和局限性最终让人误入歧途.和以往的观点不同本文从一个新的角度分析马丁伊登死亡的必然性,重在强调导致马丁死亡的两个主要矛盾,个人主义与社会的冲突理想主义和现实冲突.

MartinEdenisconsideredtobethemostremarkableworkofJackLondon'srepresentativeworkortwothings.OneisitsautographicstylethatofferspreciouaterialstostudyLondonofthattime,theotherisitsgreatvalueinbothmentalandartisticfields.

MartinEdenwaspublishedin1909,thefirsthalfofthenovelwithautobiographyproperties,ontheauthor'searlylifeexperiencesandlaterfame.JackLondonpioneeredinliteratureofsocialprotestandthepatternofhislifewasreflectedinmanyofhisnovels,especiallyinMartinEden.

ThefateofMartinEdenistouching.Hisheartiullofpassionandfortitudeforitsaspiration,yethisdreamcrumblesintodustthemomentithasbeenrealized.Itisthehideousandde spicablehypocrisyofsocietythatdestroystheyoungman'sardentexpectation,andplungeshimintobewilderingdespair.等

莎士比亚(1564-1616)生活在封建社会和资本主义社会的转折时期.在所有英国作家中,莎士比亚是世界文学史上极少数里程碑式的人物之一.他的作品也是世界文学史上最伟大的里程碑.《哈姆雷特》是莎士比亚戏剧创作中最杰出的代表,也是其戏剧艺术成熟的标志.该剧以丰富的时代内涵,生动的人物形象,复杂的矛盾冲突以及曲折多变的故事情节,给人们留下深刻的印象,吸引着他们对其不断地进行解读.

本论文旨在从人物性格特征,象征手法,矛盾冲突等方面分析《哈姆雷特》,揭示人文主义理想破灭的必然性.论文共分五个部分阐述.第一部分简要介绍作者生平,写作背景以及故事概况.第二部分详细分析剧中主人公性格特征.第三部分通过对该剧中象征手法运用的分析,反映当时不同层次身份的人物的道德立场和人生观决定他们的最终归宿.第四部分分析代表人文主义的哈姆雷特与现实的矛盾及其复仇的失败.最后一部分是论文的结论.剧中哈姆雷特与克劳狄斯的斗争是新兴资产阶级人文主义者与日趋反动的封建王权代表之间的斗争,反映了文艺复兴时期先进人物为实现美好理想向社会恶势力进行的斗争.作为人文主义者的典型代表,哈姆雷特对人类抱有美好的看法,他相信人类的智慧,高雅和力量.然而,面对罪恶的现实,他所有的人文主义理想都彻底破灭,因而只能以生命的代价换取精神上的胜利.作为时代的缩影,《哈姆雷特》揭示了人文主义理想破灭的必然性.

Abstract

Shakespeare(1564-1616)livedinthetransitionperiodfromafeudalsocietytoacapitalisticsociety.WilliamShakespearebelongstooneofthoseraregeniusesofthemankindwhohebeelandmarksinthehistoryoftheworldcultureandwhoseworksisagreatlandmarkinthehistoryoftheworldliterature.Hamlet,oneofthefourgreattragedies,isthemostremarkableworksofShakespeareandalsothemarkofthematurityofhisdramaticarts.Withabundantconnotationofthetime,vividcharacters,plicatedconflictsandvariedstories,Hamletgivesthereaderadeepimpressionandimpressesthemtoappreciateit.

Byananalysisofthehero'scharacter,symboliandconflictsintheplay,thispaperaimstorevealthatitisdestinedtofailforhumanists.Therearefivepartsinthepaper:Thefirstpartintroducesthebackgroundoftheauthorandthewritingandsummarizesthestory.Thesecondelaboratesthehero'scharacters.Bytheobservationofthesymboli,thethirdpartreflectsthatdifferentindividualsrepresentdifferentmoralpositionsandviewsoflife,whichleadtotheirdestinies.ThefourthchapterexaminestheconflictbetweenHamlet,asymbolofhumaniandthereality,aswellasthefailureofhisrevenge.Thelastpartistheconclusion.ThestrugglebetweenHamletandClaudiusrepresentsthatbetweentheemergingcapitalhumanistsandfeudalreactionaryforce,whichreflectstheconflictbetweentheadvancedpeopleandevilforceinRenaissance.Beingatypicalrepresentativeofhumani,Hamlethasahopeformankind,andhebelievesinman'swisdom,eleganceandstrength.Butinthefaceofthereality,allofhishumaniisdestroyed.Intheend,hehastoexchangehislifeforthespiritualvictory.Astheepitomeoftheera,Hamletrevealsthathumaniisdestinedtobedisillusioned.

WilliamShakespearewasbornprobablyontheApril23th,1564,inStratford-on-Avon.Heisoneofthemostremarkableplaywrightsandpoetstheworldhaseverknown.Withhis38plays,2longpoemsand154sons.Hehasestablishedhisgiantpositioninworldliterature.Healsobeengiventhehighestpraisesbyvariousscholarsandcriticstheworldover.

Toward1600,theco-operationbetweentheCrownandtherisingbourgeoisie,whichwasthebasisoftheElizabeth'sregime,wasover.TheeconomicandsocialcriseswhichbeganattheendofElizabethI'sreigncontinuedrightuptotheEnglishRevolution(1640).ItwasinthisatmosphereofgeneralunrestthatShakespearecreatedhisgreattragedies,Hamlet,Othello,KingLearandMacbeth,inwhichheexposesthesocialcontradictionsofthetimewithperation.

TheRenaissancereacheditshightidein16thcentury,sodidtheHumani.AsthefundamentalkeyofRenaissance,theessenceofhumaniisthathumanhetherighttoseekforfreedomtoadvocatetherationaliandtogainpeople'spositionanddevelopmentintheworld.Theelementsofhumaniaretoestablishthecentralstatus,ofhumanbeings,theirdignityvalue,toadvocatethespiritofrationaliandscience,toprotestthesuperroleofGodadmiredduringtheMiddleAges.Intheliteratureof16thinEngland,itwasplaygotthebestachievement,sotherearesomanygoodworks.Tosomeextent,aplayisthereflectionofthesociety.Thehistoryof16thcenturyiilledwithstruggleandconflict,whichbetweenthecapitaliandfeudali.

Withabundantandvividplots,Hamletrevealsanimportantthought:inthelaterofRenaissance,thecentralstatepowerwasstable,thesystemofgovernmentwaschargedbytheKing.TheKingabandonedthecapitalistclass,arbitrarilyanddictatorially,andenjoyedallthebenefits.Inpolitics,hewentagainsttheprogressivemeasure,thenthefeudalforcehadthechancetostateaeback.Thewholecountrywailledwithfoul,andeachtryingtocheattheother.Underthisbackground,thecapitalhumanistswereangry.
